‘Fantastic Four’ Brings In Seth Grahame-Smith To Polish Script

Fantastic Four producers have brought in Seth Grahame-Smith to polish the script for the upcoming reboot.

The latest adaptation of the popular comic book series is quickly becoming something of a hot ticket for 20th Century Fox. In addition to bringing in Grahame-Smith, the studio has also tapped X-Men: First Class and Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn to produce.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Dark Shadows scribe will give the Fantastic Four script a quick polish before it goes in front of the camera. Chronicle director Josh Trank is slated to direct.

Sources told the website that the reboot is expected to be “more grounded” than the versions starring Jessica Alba and Chris Evans.

ComingSoon explains that the Fantastic Four script was originally drafted by first-time writer Jeremy Slater. Seth Grahame-Smith is believed to be smoothing out the screenplay’s rough edges.

If everything goes according to plan, then 20th Century Fox will have Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four in theaters by 2015.

Screenwriter and author Seth Grahame-Smith is also reportedly working on a script for the rumored Beetlejuice sequel. However, he explained to Collider last year that the project was hinged entirely on his screenplay.

He explained:

“Just because we can make a ‘Beetlejuice’ doesn’t mean we should. I would rather not make this movie then have to look fellow fans in the face and go, ‘I f***ed up. Sorry.’ It’s just, ‘Can I crack the story?’ “

Grahame-Smith had a rough go of it in 2012. Both Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows and Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter proved to be disappointments at the box office. Be that as it may, 20th Century Fox seems to think he can bring something unique to the Fantastic Four story.

Director Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot should arrive in theaters on March 6, 2015. Are you looking forward to the more realistic version of the story?
