Orion Music Festival Bringing Metallica To Detroit

The Orion Music Festival will be lead by the metal heavyweight Metallica for a second year on June 8 and 9 at Belle Isle in Detroit. Other major performances will be given by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones, and Bassnectar.

The event, Orion Music + More Festival, is scheduled to feature over 30 bands across five stages and Metallic-specific lifestyle elements on display throughout Belle Isle including James Hetfield’s Custom Car and Motorcycle Show, Lars Ulrich’s Hit the Lights Film Tent, Robert Trujillo’s Vans Vert Ramp, and more.

The first Orion Music + More Festival was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey last year and featured headliners Metallica, Arctic Monkeys, and Avenged Sevenfold.

According to Billboard, Lars Ulrich said that last year’s event “left a good taste in [the band’s] mouths.”

“The fact that it also resonated with enough of our fans and friends that it warrants another go-around in ’13 is beyond exciting … I can think of no better place than the Motor City, with its rich and diverse history of music, for the second ride on our Orion festival train. Bring it the [f***] on,” Ulrich said.

Other performers at the event include Dropkick Murphys, Silversun Pickups, the Joy Formidable, Datsik, Japandroids, and Death Grips.

FOX reports that Orion Music Festival tickets will be available to the general public on Friday, March 1. General admission tickets will be $150, and 2-day VIP passes can be purchased for $750. Metallica Met Club members can begin buying their tickets on February 26 at 10 am EST.
