Avenged Sevenfold drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan dead at 28

A statement posted by the band Avenged Sevenfold on their website announced that drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan has died at the age of 28.

Sullivan was with the band from their inception in 1999, and although overall the members embraced a “rock n’ roll lifestyle” according to MTV, Sullivan in particular was known for a fondness for drugs. In addition to his work with Avenged Sevenfold, Sullivan also had a side project, Pinkly Smooth, with fellow Avenged Sevenfold member Synyster Gates.

Sullivan was found dead at his home in Huntington Beach, CA, at around 1PM on Monday. He is survived by a wife, Leana MacFadden (also listed on Wikipedia as Leana Silver.) Cause of death is not yet known, but foul play is not suspected. In the statement, his bandmates had this to say:

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. Jimmy was not only one of the world’s best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy’s family and we hope that you will respect their privacy during this difficult time.

Jimmy you are forever in our hearts.
We love you.

M Shadows, Synyster Gates, Zacky Vengeance and Johnny Christ
