Janet Jackson Confirms Marriage To Billionaire Wissam Al Mana

Janet Jackson is ending rumors about an upcoming lavish wedding, confirming that she and fiancé Wissam Al Mana have already tied the knot and have been married for several months.

The 46-year-old singer married the 37-year-old Qatari billionaire last year in a private ceremony.

In their first joint statement as a couple, Jackson and Al Mana told ET:

“The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony. Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children’s charities. We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy.”

News of Jackson and Al Mana’s engagement first broke in December 2012, but the two had already been married by that point. A source said that Jackson hadn’t been wearing her ring publicly because she was afraid of losing it.

This is the third marriage for the youngest Jackson sibling. She was previously married to fellow R&B singer James DeBarge from late 1984 to mid-1985. She married dancer, songwriter, and director Rene Elizondo Jr. in 1991, and the two were divorced in March 2000.

Jackson then began dating record producer Jermaine Dupri, and the two ended their on-and-off relationship in 2009. The So So Def founder recently hinted that he cheated on the “Control” singer.

“We was together nine years, that’s a long time. That’s like marriage,” Dupri told Power 105.1. “I’m a young dude, I’m gonna leave it at that. You know what I mean? I’m a young dude in the entertainment business. My life is crazy sometimes.”

Here’s hoping the third time is the charm for Ms. Jackson, and congratulations to Janet and Wissam.
