The Colts not only sell out a chance at history, but their fans as well

What does a NFL team who has won 23 straight NFL games, is on the verge of completing a perfect season, and in fact completing one of the most magical season in NFL history do? If your answer is to roll over like a bunch of scared little girls, maybe you can run the Indianapolis Colts. The performance they turned in the second half of that game versus the New York Jets was nothing short of offensive. Considering that I live in Detroit, and have been a lifelong Detroit Lions fan, that is really saying something. In fact the Colts played so poorly in the second half that they looked just like the Lions who have won two NFL games over the past two NFL seasons.

Colts Head Coach Jim Caldwell should be ashamed of himself. Very early in the Third Quarter, he pulled not only Peyton Manning, but a majority of his starters, and put out what was essentially a pre-season squad to get decimated by a very effective Jet defense. Gone now are the dreams of an undefeated season, and for what? Hey, Jim someone wins the Super Bowl every year, no team has ever gone 16-0 and won a Super Bowl, you blew your chance to be a legend. In the process you may have left the door open to get defeated far short of your Super Bowl dreams.

Since the Jets won, they have kept their playoff dreams alive. If they can defeat the Cincinnati Bengals, whose own post season ticket has already been punched, they will themselves make the playoffs. So Mr. Caldwell you just gave a dangerous defense, a dress rehearsal for the feat that awaits them, a chance to knock your team out of the playoffs like how they just knocked it from the pages of history.

Worse than all that is the Colts just screwed their fans. Let us forget for a moment that this team is already screwing the city on their stadium deal, but an average ticket to see the Colts is 81 dollars. How would you feel having shelled out that kind of cash, risked travel in inclement weather for a team on the verge of history to sell out like that?
