Renee Zellweger, Kristen Stewart Create Oscar Buzz, Twitter Says ‘What Were They On?’ [Video]

Renee Zellweger and Kristen Stewart both made a splash at the 2013 Academy Awards, but the pair did not create an enviable Oscar buzz — most on Twitter instantly reacting to the show suggested one or both of the actresses looked a bit… worse for wear.

Both Renee Zellweger and Kristen Stewart did, to be fair, appear very late in the Oscar ceremonies, after hours of awards, pre-show events, the Red Carpet and getting ready.

The reaction to Renee Zellweger and Kristen Stewart is also a product of a society that once watched the shows and rehashed them over water coolers the following day — but now, people can instantly weigh in on whether a star looks better, worse, tired, botoxed, drunk, high or all of the above. Essentially, we are now all Joan Rivers.

Renee Zellweger has been kind of low-key in recent years, and the blonde Jerry Maguire star has always been mocked for her habit of making a “squinty” face. But last night, the actress came in for a bit more critique — watching Twitter as she appeared on stage was a bit like a real life “Burn Book” from Mean Girls.

Zellweger “trended” immediately, and the feedback was the sort where those of us watching at home felt somewhat better she was up on stage and not reading tweets. Watchers opined:

Kristen Stewart did not fare much better than Renee Zellweger, and her flat affect in reading from the cards as well as her strangely disheveled hair did not impress the legions of Oscar watchers, who tweeted:

Were you watching Renee Zellweger and Kristen Stewart on Oscar night? Did you have the same reaction?
