Suns Coach Lindsey Hunter Gives Michael Beasley The Evil Eye After Airball [Video]

An epic stare down.

Phoenix Suns interim coach Lindsey Hunter gave underperforming forward Michael Beasley the evil eye (sometimes known as the “stink eye”) after the player lofted an airball Friday night in the fourth quarter against the Celtics. Boston easily won the game 113-88.

Beasley, who is shooting around 40% for the season, went 2 for 8 in the loss and apparently had a sore left elbow. Putting ice on it at halftime affected his shot, the Arizona Republic reported Beasley as claiming. The Suns are in last place in the Pacific Division.

After a 13-28 start, Hunter took over as Suns head coach (on an interim basis) from Alvin Gentry in January the day after the Milwaukee Bucks won on Phoenix’s home court for the first time in 26 years. Hunter was a relative newcomer to the team and was working in player development. In appointing Hunter interim coach of the cellar-dwellers, the Suns passed over several long-term assistant coaches including popular former star Dan Majerle.

According to the Bleacher Report, Hunter overreacted by staring down Michael Beasley during the blowout loss to the Celtics:

“Look, players are going to miss shots. And on a team as bad as the Suns, players are going to miss shots badly. But there’s no excuse for Hunter to make such a public display of his feelings.

“His reaction has now gone viral, and his disrespect for his players won’t go unnoticed in the locker room … Things are apparently falling apart in Phoenix, and Hunter’s inability to control himself, combined with Beasley’s antics, definitely isn’t helping.”
