Daniel Radcliffe Hopes He Doesn’t ‘Screw Up’ At Oscars Tonight

Los Angeles, CA – Daniel Radcliffe has a surprise role in Sunday’s Oscars, and said that he just hopes he doesn’t muck it up.

Earlier in February, the Academy revealed that Radcliffe would make a “special appearance” at the Sunday ceremony alongside Charlize Theron, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum. At Saturday’s Independent Spirit Awards, the Harry Potter star talked a bit about what his surprise Oscars appearance would entail.

“It’s very exciting, and if it’s all going to be as chilled out as this, that’s very excellent,” Radcliffe told MTV News.

He didn’t want to spoil the surprise, so he was mum on the details.

“It’s going to be fun,” he said. “It’s going to be different.” Those comments probably rule out presenting or introducing.

“I just hope we don’t screw it up,” Radcliffe added.

This year’s Oscars is shaping up to be a memorable show. In addition to Radcliffe’s surprise appearance, the 85th Oscars will feature a closing musical number and a live performance of the Skyfall theme song by British crooner Adele, according to Just Jared.

Radcliffe also had a few nice things to say about host Seth MacFarlane. The Family Guy creator is rumored to be a more hands-on emcee than hosts past, and Radcliffe likes the way he’s handling the show.

“I think what Seth McFarlane is doing, in terms of how involved he is with every single aspect of the show, is really, really admirable,” he said. “It’s kind of really wonderful.”
