Josh Brolin And Diane Lane Were Separated Months Ago

Josh Brolin and Diane Lane recently announced that they are getting a divorce after eight years of marriage, but sources say they’ve been separated much longer.

The official date of separation according to docs filed with LA Superior Court is February 13, but sources close to the couple say the marriage has been over for months.

“They’ve been separated for several months. This was a hard decision for both of them to make,” said a close source, per The Hollywood Gossip. “The relationship just ran its course.”

The couple were married in 2004 at Brolin’s California ranch. They were introduced by Brolin’s stepmother, Barbara Streisand, in 2002. The couple have no children, and their marriage is each actor’s second.

Diane Lane was previously married to Highlander actor Christopher Lambert. The pair have one daughter together, and divorced in 1994. Josh Brolin was married to actress Alice Adair. They also divorced in 1994, and have two children together.

Reps for the couple confirmed the divorce with US Weekly, but no causes were cited at the time.

Now, divorce documents filed show the cause as the all-too-familiar “irreconcilable differences,” and Diane Lane is also asking to have her legal name changed back (it’s actually Diane Lane Brolin right now).

“It was a mutual decision. It is very amicable. It’s not ugly, it’s just over,” said another source.

What do you think? Should Josh Brolin and Diane Lane have fought harder for their marriage, or is it just over when it’s over?
