Mindy McCready Autopsy: Preliminary Confirms Suicide

Heber Springs, AR – Mindy McCready’s official cause of death has been determined. A preliminary autopsy confirms what we’ve been reporting all along: The troubled country star’s death was a suicide.

MSN reports that the Cleburne County sheriff’s statement Wednesday revealed that preliminary autopsy results from Arkansas’ state crime lab ruled McCready’s death as a suicide from a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

McCready’s death at 37 shocked the music world, even if it didn’t come as much of a surprise from those who knew her best.
The once platinum-selling artist’s life has been marred by personal struggle over the past several years. McCready has struggled with substance abuse on-and-off, child custody battles over her two sons, and the recent death of her fiance, David Wilson.

Investigators say that McCready shot and killed herself (as well as her late fiance’s dog) Sunday night at her home in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Eerily, authorities found McCready’s body (along with the dog’s) on the front porch in the same spot that Wilson died last month.

David Wilson, described by McCready as her “soulmate,” is also believed to have committed suicide, though an official cause of death still hasn’t been determined. The investigation is ongoing.

E! Online reports that McCready wasn’t a suspect in Wilson’s death, and she combated the suggestion of foul play in an interview shortly before her own death.

“Oh, my God, no. He was my life. We were each others’ life.” She said, in response to a question regarding her possible role in his death. “I lay down next to him and just just pleaded with him not to die.”

Our condolences continue to go out to Mindy McCready’s family and friends during this difficult time.
