Clive Davis Gay? Music Mogul Comes Out As Bisexual In New Book

Rumors that Clive Davis is gay came somewhat true after fans read his latest memoir. The music mogul confirmed in the book that he is bisexual.

In the memoir, Davis revealed he has been in a romantic relationship with a man for the past seven years. The 80-year-old founded Arista and J Records.

Clive Davis’s memoir, The Soundtrack of My Life, also talks of the mogul’s work with Bob Dylan, Whitney Houston, Kelly Clarkson, Bruce Springsteen, Carlos Santana, Simon & Garfunkel, and several others, reports United Press International.

The chief creative officer at Sony Music Entertainment wrote that he started dating men about 30 years ago after a man approached him at New York’s Studio 54. He wrote of the experience:

“Was I nervous? Absolutely. Did the heavens open up? No. But it was satisfying.”

But Clive Davis is not gay. He describes himself as bisexual, because he has also had relationships with women in the past, notes Yahoo! Music. Davis explained:

“For over 50 years I never had sex with a male. It wasn’t repressed. I had very good sexual relationships with women.”

The news is not a shock to music industry types who have long assumed Clive Davis was gay. He was still living in his second wife’s house at the time of the Studio 54 encounter. The couple had not physically separated because of their child, though they were divorcing. He recalled of the experience:

“I had not been at all repressed or confused during either of my marriages. I hadn’t fantasized about men … I was not at all interested in anonymous sex. But sex with a male didn’t repulse me, and it provided welcome relief.”

Are you surprised to hear that Clive Davis is not gay, but calls himself bisexual?
