Alberto Randazzo Arrest: NY Police Sergeant Busted For Child Porn

A 15-year New York police department veteran was arrested this week after officers found child pornography images on a computer that belonged to him.

According to CBS New York, NYPD Sergeant Alberto Randazzo was arrested Monday at his Astoria home and hit with three separate charges of child pornography: use of a child in a sexual performance, promoting sexual performance by a child, and possessing a sexual performance by a child.

Investigators have no evidence that the sergeant had physical contact with a child.

Cops say they discovered the sexually explicit material on Randazzo’s PC, but it was unclear whether it was a his home system or one belonging to the police department.

Randazzo, 36, has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal charges brought against him.

Attempts to contact Randazzo were unsuccessful, and it wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney.

The child pornography case is the latest incident to cast a negative light on the name of the New York Police Department.

Last month, the NYPD received harsh criticism after police allegedly arrested a 7-year-old boy and interrogated for him over 10 hours for stealing five dollars from a classmate.

The boy, Wilson Reyes of The Bronx, claims he is innocent and is reportedly suing the NYPD for $250 million.
