‘Entertainment’: New Song From Phoenix [Video]

“Entertainment” is the first new song from Phoenix since the band released their highly praised album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix in 2009. “Entertainment” premiered on Zane Lowe’s show on BBC Radio 1 yesterday and has since seen more than 185 thousand plays on YouTube.

L.A Times music blog, Pop Hiss reports that “Entertainment” will be a track from the new Phoenix album, Bankrupt! The band’s official website has cited April 22, 2013 for the scheduled album release and has also revealed the new album cover and the ten song track listing.

Early reviews of the new song are positive. Pop Hiss describe the song as “a speedy electro-rock jam built around the group’s signature live-disco guitar, as well as a giant-sized synth hook that after a few spins is reminding Pop Hiss of some of the rave-ier moments from Coldplay’s ‘Mylo Xyloto.’ ” Rolling Stone are describing “Entertainment” as “stuffed with massive, sparkling synths that are aching to be unleashed in an arena.”

Phoenix has been teasing fans with speculation of a new album since 2011 after posting a photo of the band in the studio, tagged as “Songwriting.” After the phenomenal success of Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, which won the 2009 Grammy for Best Alternative Album, anticipation is running high.

Phoenix is kicking off a world tour in Vancouver next month and will also be headlining the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Southern California in April.
