Maine Proposes “Cancer Warning Labels” For Cell Phones

While there has been no direct links to brain cancer and cell phones, the state of Maine doesn’t want to take any chances. According to recent reports the legislator in that state are proposing warning labels for cell phones which state that the devices may cause brain cancer.

Maine isn’t the only state looking at this type of legislation, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has proposed similar requirements, regardless that no scientific consensus has been agreed upon in terms of the effects caused by cellular devices.

Under Maine’s current bill, phone manufacturers would have to label both cell phone boxes and their actual devices with warnings about the “possible” link to brain cancer, while also suggesting that users keep their devices away from their head or body. Hey Maine, how do I carry my cell phone if it has to be kept away from my body? [SlipperyBrick]
