Heber Springs, AR – New, dark details are emerging in the Mindy McCready suicide investigation. Law enforcement authorities say that McCready apparently killed her deceased boyfriend’s dog before turning the gun on herself Sunday.
Cleburne Country Sheriff Marty Ross said Monday that McCready’s body was found on the same porch of her northern Arkansas home where her boyfriend, David Wilson, was found dead of an apparent suicide in January 2012.
Also found was Wilson’s dog, also dead and laying next to McCready, reports The Associated Press.
Moss also said that concerned neighbors called 911 after hearing what sounded like two gunshots in the area, reports KTHV. A friend-of-a-friend was the second to phone 911, concerned for McCready after she had left messages for a friend.
No details about those messages, including their nature, are known at this time.
Law enforcement authorities are investigating Wilson’s shooting death as a suicide, but Moss said that an official determination still hasn’t been made yet. He also said that he expects McCready’s official cause of death will be released soon. He noted that “all indicators” point to suicide by self-inflicted gunshot.
Mindy McCready was 37-years-old.
The country star had been plagued by numerous personal troubles in recent years, including struggles with substance abuse, child custody conflicts, and most recently, the apparent suicide of David Wilson, whom McCready called her “soulmate.”
Our condolences go out to Mindy McCready’s friends and family during this trying time.
