Capcom’s Darkstalkers Resurrection is slated to arrive on Xbox LIVE Arcade and Playstation Network this March.
The game was originally scheduled to arrive on February 7. However, Capcom revealed last year that the high-definition Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge and Darkstalkers 3 bundle would be pushed back. According to Polygon, the game was delayed for “quality assurance issues.”
The company recently revealed that Darkstalkers Resurrection is now slated to arrive next month. The 2D fighters will hit Playstation Network on March 12 and Xbox LIVE Arcade on March 13.
Xbox 360 Achievements explains that repackaged brawlers will feature a number of enhancements, including a few visual filters designed to make the look pretty on modern televisions. Players will also have the ability to challenge other fighters online and share replays with friends. A tutorial mode will also be available for those who are new to the Darkstalkers universe.
Fighting game enthusiasts can expect to pay $14.99 or 1200 Microsoft Points for the title when it’s finally available for purchase.
The original Darkstalkers made its debut as an arcade machine back in 1994. Using the Street Fighter II gameplay system, players assumed the roles of various characters inspired by Gothic horror novels and movies.
The sequel Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge arrived in arcades back in 1995. The game would see release on the Sega Saturn one year later. Darkstalkers 3 arrive in 1997.
All of the Darkstalkers games were bundled together in the Playstation 2 title Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection. Unfortunately for Darkstalkers fans around the world, the compilation was only sold in Japan.
Capcom has had some success resurrecting older fighters into the digital marketplace. Re-releases of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and the classic 2D brawler Marvel vs. Capcom 2 were openly embraced by old school and modern gamers alike.
A pair of gameplay videos promoting the bundle have been embedded below.
