2 Chainz Arrested, Rapper In Cuffs On Possession Charge

Rapper 2 Chainz has been arrested on a possession charge, multiple news sources have reported — but even after the hip-hop star was busted on a weed charge, he still was cool enough to take photos with the cops at the station house.

2 Chainz was arrested in Maryland on charges of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia yesterday, an incident he confirmed via Instagram by posting a pic of him smiling with two cops as he writes, “locked me up and then wanted pictures smh.”

According to the Baltimore Sun, 2 Chainz was arrested Thursday following what appears to have been a routine traffic stop. The rapper, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, was with seven others but the only one in the group to be taken in on the minor charge. (We recommend a re-listen of Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” for such instances, 2 Chainz.)

The paper says after 2 Chainz was arrested, the pic garnered more than 40,000 likes on Instagram and drew the attention of police higher-ups, explaining the aftermath as well as the incident.

“Gregory Shipley, a spokesman for the state police, told The Sun that the incident is under review … According to WBOC, troopers pulled over a white Ford van at the intersection of Route 50 and Rabbit Hill Road at about 10:20 p.m. Seven people were in the car, but only Epps, was arrested. Police told WBOC that Epps, who hails from Georgia, was charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.”

As 2 Chainz was arrested, the rapper himself gave a thorough account of happenings through his ordeal, but ultimately, the quick trip to the police station only seemed to consume a small part of his day. Epps said:

While the rapper seemed to have a pleasant overall reaction, after 2 Chainz was arrested, he also tweeted that his [sic] “security said it was his and they said , he don’t smoke ,, how da f*k u know? Haha wut a valentines day!”
