Hugh Jackman Denies Gay Rumors, Say They Bug His Wife


Hugh Jackman denied gay rumors, saying that the affect him more than he has let on before. The actor made the revelation during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Jackman added that the rumors are especially difficult for his wife of 16 years, Deborra-Lee Furness. He adds that Furness often sees stories online about the rumors.

ABC News reports that Jackman’s X-Men producer, Lauren Shuler Donner, also denied the gay rumors, saying:

“I have seen him with Deborra since the beginning of their trip to Hollywood, and I’ve been on five movie sets with him and have never seen him stray, have never seen him eye anyone.”

Hugh Jackman also spoke about meeting his wife on the set of Correlli, a prison-set television series. He recalled:

“She was very beautiful. She was unbelievably fun — this energy, this spirit — irrepressible. And she had a confidence in herself. I had a massive crush on her instantly.”

Along with denying gay rumors, Hugh Jackman also opened up about previous roles that could have been his over the years, notes E! Online. He admitted that he was offered Richard Gere’s Oscar-nominated role in the movie Chicago. He also dropped out of playing the lead role in Drive.

He also denied himself a role as James Bond, because he didn’t want to be stereotyped as an action movie actor, because of his previous role as Wolverine. He explained, “I thought it would box me in too much. My natural instinct is to keep as many doors open as possible.”
