Lady Gaga Needs Surgery, Cancels World Tour

Lady Gaga needs surgery to repair a labral tear in her right hip. The injury will require her to cancel the rest of the “Born This Way Ball” tour dates.

The singer announced on Twitter Tuesday that she would need to postpone three tour dates, but it appears her condition is so serious that surgery is required.

Yahoo! News reports that Live Nation said in a statement about the injury:

“After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip.”

The statement added, “She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour so she can heal.”

There is no schedule for when Lady Gaga’s surgery will take place. She initially tweeted to fans on Tuesday, saying she has synovitis, a severe inflammation of joints. CNN notes that Gaga wrote:

“I’ve been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the past month it has worsened. I’ve been praying it would heal.”

Gaga went on to explain that after her show on Monday night, she was unable to walk. The singer’s initial diagnosis would have required a small down time. Her latest diagnosis, however, means that the singer will have to be on a strict rest schedule.

Fans will be able to get refunds for their “Born This Way Ball” tickets starting Thursday. Are you sad to hear that Lady Gaga will need surgery?
