Amazon Beats Apple, Google As Most Respected Company In US

Amazon beats Apple and Google when it comes to being the most respected company in the United States, according to a new survey.

The findings come from the Harris Interactive survey, which measures well known companies in six key areas that build reputation and influence customer behavior. For its 2013 Reputation Quotient, the market-research firm interviewed more than 14,000 people.

Categories included in the survey are social responsibility, emotional appeal, products and services, workplace environment, financial performance, and vision and leadership.

Apple topped the survey last year, followed by Google, while Amazon took the fourth position.

According to Mashable, this year the online retailer climbed above its competition to first place. Amazon narrowly beat Apple, which fell into second place. Rounding out the top five are the Walt Disney Company, Google, and Johnson & Johnson.

An article by The Telegraph writes that Amazon ranked in the top five in all but one of the six categories. The company’s mostly virtual relationship with its customers did not stop it from achieving a five-point advantage over competition in the emotional appeal category.

Robert Fronk of Harris Interactive spoke about the 2013 survey results:

“Our results show that Amazon has managed to build an intimate relationship with the public without being perceived as intrusive. And as the company that is so widely known for its personal recommendations, more than nine in ten members of the public would recommend Amazon to friends and family.”

Do you agree with the survey’s results? Do you think Amazon beats Apple and Google in reputation?
