Bon Jovi Forced To Cancel Show After Blizzard Nemo Blocks Fans From Venue

Uncasville, CT – Bon Jovi were forced to postpone the opening show of their “Because We Can” tour due to Blizzard Nemo.

The veteran rock group called off their show at the Mohegan Sun resort casino in southeast Connecticut on Saturday night. The decision was made after blizzard conditions prevented thousands of fans from reaching the venue.

The region was blanketed in three feet of snow, prompting the Governor of Connecticut to declare a state of emergency.

Despite the cancellation, the Bon Jovi gents still treated some lucky fans to a smaller free gig on Saturday evening. According to a spokesperson at the casino venue, Bon Jovi took to the stage at 5pm and played a full set for a much-reduced audience of 2,000. As grateful tweets flooded in from fans (see below), casino representative Cathy Soper said:

“I wanted to confirm that they did in fact perform a special, free concert for hotel guests and fans that had made the trek in advance to see the show.

“Bon Jovi recognizes how much preparation it takes for fans to attend a concert and they wanted to honor that the best way that they know how.”

The Bon Jovi show has now been rescheduled for October 25, when hopefully temperatures will be slightly kinder. All tickets purchased for Saturday’s show will be honored at the October 25 concert. Those who purchased tickets for Saturday’s gig have been instructed to contact their “original point of purchase” for more information.

The opening date of the tour will now be Sunday night in Washington, D.C.
