Ochocinco fined 30k for touchdown celebration

After scoring a TD against the Detroit Lions last Sunday, Chad Ochocinco headed to the bench where he dawned a poncho and a sombrero in what was he latest attempts to be funny, be the star, or whatever other need drivers this man to do the things that he does. The NFL on Wednesday fined Chad 30 grand for the incident. The 30k number was 10k more than the NF fined him earlier this year when Chad faked bribing an official in another of his now infamous TD celebrations.

Hard core sports fans will look down on Chad and his antics, but in all reality he is bringing a little showmanship to football. In NASCAR several drivers do crazy stuff after winning a race, and the crowd eats it up, in the WWE each wrestler has a finishing move that indicated to the audience that a match is coming to an end. Chad has brought that kind of side show to the NFL, and for the most part it is fun to see what his highly creative mind comes up with each week.

Looking at this another way, one has to wonder how good of an NFL player Chad would be if he devoted all the time and energy he puts into preparing for the touchdown celebration, into just being the best football player he could be. Of course these little antics are part of what makes Chad a great talent in the NFL of today.

The NFL should know better, Chad doesn’t care about the fine, he cares about pushing the envelope, and he has vowed to try and find, and blow the Minnesota Vikings horn if he scores a TD against the Vikes this coming Sunday.
