Eminem Set To Release New Album This Year And Play Summer Gigs

Eminem is set to release a new studio album this year, according to the president of his label Shady Records.

In a recent interview with music bible Billboard, Paul Rosenberg said the rapper is “far into the process” of prepping a new LP. In addition, he confirmed that the new record would be released at some point after Memorial Day.

Rolling Stone reports that the as yet untitled album will be Eminem’s eighth studio album and first release since his multiplatinum 2010 album Recovery — which sold 5.8 million — and his 2011 album Hell: The Sequel which came out under his Bad Meets Evil collaboration with Royce Da c5’9. ‘

Rosenberg went on to say:

“We fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013. He’s been working on it for some time. It’s safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we’re not exactly sure when. We’ve got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we’re trying to see what else lines up.”

NME reports that Eminem will play an outdoor gig in Glasgow, UK, in August. The 40-year-old is one of the acts — and likely the headliner — in the Glasgow Summer Sessions, which will take place in the city’s Bellahouston Park.

There’s more to come. The rapper will headline at the UK’s Reading and Leeds Festivals 2013, which runs from August 23-25. An August 17 concert in Ireland’s Slane will precede the festival.

Sounds like “Slim Shady” is going to be all over the soundtrack of Summer.
