A homeless man was rescued by his faithful dog, Buddy.

The homeless man — who is from a remote location in Washington state — suffered a medical emergency and had no way to call for help. Isolated at his camp in the woods, he sent his loyal pooch to look for help.

And Buddy found some.

The Australian shepherd mix was found by a woman walking her dog on the train tracks in the town of Tumwater. He had a note attached to his harness, which read:

“Help. Send help. No joke, cannot walk. Medicine not working. Need doctor.”

She alerted local authorities. Since the note wasn’t signed, officials weren’t sure where to look, but they had heard rumors of a homeless man living in nearby woods, so began the search. They eventually found him in an “elaborate camp” in the woods.

Detective Jen Kolb told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News, “He was absolutely immobile. He was in his camp and couldn’t move from his location. He didn’t have a phone to call anybody. No way to reach out to anybody for help, and he was afraid he was going to die.”

By attaching a note to his trusty pup, the man made a last-ditch attempt to connect with the outside world. And it worked. The man was taking to the hospital and treated. He has since been released and reunited with Buddy.
