‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Gets An Official Synopsis, Adds Colm Feore To The Cast

Curious about what’s going to happen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2? An official plot synopsis for the film is now available online.

Director Marc Webb’s follow-up to his 2012 superhero flick is currently taking shape in New York City. In a press release announcing the start of production, Columbia Pictures also released the official plot synopsis for Peter Parker’s latest cinematic adventure.

In addition to featuring returning stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 also calls upon the talents of Jamie Foxx (Electro) and Shailene Woodley (Mary Jane Watson). Recent rumors have suggested that acclaimed actor Paul Giamatti will tackle the role of Rhino, though nothing has been confirmed as of this writing.

This is how Marvel describes the sequel:

“In ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ for Peter Parker, life is busy — between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen, high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro, emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.”

The release also states that talented actor Colm Feore has signed on for a part in the follow-up. However, details about who he will play are scant at the moment. Feore is probably best known for his roles in Chronicles of Riddick, Thor, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. He also starred in the 2006 Canadian action-comedy Bon Cop, Bad Cop.

Unless something goes terribly wrong between now and then, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will arrive in theaters across the country on May 2, 2014. Fans of the series should expect to be hit with a plethora of promotional material in the coming months.
