WD TV Live Units Get Firmware Update, Become Bricked

The WD TV Live unit from Western Digital has been a popular device among HD media box enthusiasts looking for a competent, yet light on the pocketbook gadget for all their HD needs. Unfortunately for those users the companies newest firmware update has bricked many of their units.

Forum reports are pointing to devices showing nothing but a blank screen after users install firmware v1.101.12.

Western Digital has stated that their aware of the issue and they’ve pulled the update from their website. If you still see the update available we’d suggest staying clear of that option until a new and improved firmware upgrade has become available.
