Wrestler Edward ‘Umaga’ Fatu dead of heart attack


Popular Samoan-American WWE wrestler Edward ‘Umaga’ Fatu died Friday of a heart attack in Houston at the age of 36.

Umaga was found unresponsive and bleeding from the nose by his wife yesterday. The wrestler was rushed to a Houston hospital, where he was reported in critical condition yesterday. He died at approximately 6pm EST on Friday.

Called the “Samoan Bulldozer,” Umaga was cousin to crossover wrestling star Dwayne Johnson, also known as “The Rock.” The WWE released the following statement expressing condolences to Fatu’s loved ones.

WWE would like to express its deepest condolences to Mr. Fatu’s family, friends and fans on his tragic passing. Mr. Fatu was under contract with WWE at various time periods and most recently performed under the name “Umaga.” Mr. Fatu’s contract was terminated on June 11, 2009.
