Rick Ross Back On Twitter As New Details Emerge In Assassination Attempt

Rick Ross has re-emerged on Twitter after what appears to be an attempt to murder the hip-hop star in Florida earlier this week, but the heavyset rapper did not directly address his brush with death early Monday morning.

Rick Ross had been mostly silent on the microblogging service save for a re-tweet yesterday, but the rapper was back today, sending two tweets about upcoming releases — and pointedly ignoring the static from fellow rapper 50 Cent, who has been mercilessly mocking Ross since the shooting. (As you may recall, 50 Cent himself is a survivor of multiple gunshots, so we imagine shots that don’t even hit the car, much less Ross himself, seem far less scary.)

As Ross returns to social media, All Hip-Hop reports that police have spoken a bit more, albeit cryptically, about the shooting in Fort Lauderdale. The site explains that Ross himself may have fired some of the shots during the incident Monday:

“There is no official word on whether Ross fired a weapon before crashing his vehicle into an apartment building but police do say he played a major part in surviving … The police claim the altercation between Ross and an as-of-yet unknown vehicle occurred over a span of two to three blocks on Las Olas Boulevard.”

Vaguely, Fort Lauderdale Police Lieutenant Frank Sousa confirmed of Rick Ross’ behavior and situation during the gunfire and crash:

“It’s accurate to say he dodged multiple rounds.”

Does that mean that 50 Cent’s claims Rick Ross faked the shooting are off-base? Does it mean police are still unsure as to what prompted it and what, if any, role Ross had in the shooting? No one has thus far explained Sousa’s comment further.

Fellow rapper Pusha T told MTV that the Rick Ross shooting makes sense, as wealth is not an instant free pass out of a difficult youth. He says:

“It’s tough out here as an artist and being in rap it’s like this is the only profession where you don’t really leave your core … You don’t really leave your upbringing. You don’t really leave that behind; you stay in it lyrically and so on and so forth. So it’s like you can’t really get out of it, you can’t really get away from it. I don’t care how much money you have.”
