‘Iron Man 3’ Gets New Poster, Super Bowl Trailer Teaser [Photo, Video]

The new poster for director Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 features the film’s star in a situation that’s sure to spell certain doom for the hero.

The latest one-sheet for the highly-anticipated Marvel Studios sequel is reminiscent of numerous Iron Man comic book covers. Although the situation certainly looks pretty bad, chances are things will work out before all is said and done.

Judging from the amount of promotional material that’s recently made the rounds online, the folks at Marvel are working hard to generate some buzz for the upcoming Iron Man 3 Super Bowl ad. Since airing clips during one of the world’s biggest sporting events costs a pretty penny, it’s no surprise Disney and Marvel want viewers to tune in.

The studio officially describes Iron Man 3 as follows:

“Marvel Studios’ ‘Iron Man 3’ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark-Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”

Directed by Lethal Weapon scribe Shane Black, the upcoming sequel stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale, Ashley Hamilton, Jon Favreau, and Sir Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin. The film is expected to arrive in theaters on May 3.
