Top Hooker TV Series Isn’t Exactly What It Sounds Like

A Top Hooker TV series sounds like just another notch in the race to the bottom for reality television marketers, but it’s actually much more wholesome.

The aptly named Top Hooker isn’t about crowning the best street walker, but instead it’s a new Animal Planet series about fishing.

The Top Hooker tv series will consist of expert anglers competing in different challenges, The Associated Press reported. These challenges include things like fishing using outlandish tools, netting their catch in their mouth, and catching fish blindfolded.

The eight episode Top Hooker tv series will be based out of California and run for eight weeks. All of the fish caught will be released.

Animal Planet is likely trying to continue the success of another fishing reality show, River Monsters. The show about the quest to land some of the largest and most unusual freshwater fish has brought high ratings to the network. In fact, last year the show gave Animal Planet the most-watched season debut in history, drawing 1.8 million viewers, a network press release noted.

As straight fishing shows have faded away — they were once a staple of early morning weekend programming on ESPN, but now are relegated beyond basic cable — Animal Planet will try to pick up some of the fishing audience with the Top Hooker tv series.

It’s clear that the Top Hooker tv series is also following in the vein of other shows with clever but not quite naughty titles. Shows like Hardcore Pawn and Pawn Stars have mastered this art, and now Top Hooker can be added to the mix.
