A rumor currently making the rounds suggests that director Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 will feature a cameo many fans may not have been expecting.
Those of you who don’t want to know anything about the upcoming Iron Man sequel may want to skip this slice of movie gossip altogether. Although nothing has been officially confirmed, the latest rumor could ultimately prove true.
According to Latino Review, sources close to the film have reported that Tony Stark will pay a visit to the Guardians of the Galaxy at the end of Iron Man 3. Although anonymous sources can often turn out to be completely wrong, this one may prove to have a bit more meat on its bones.
The website points to a recent interview with Robert Downey Jr. During his chat with the Entertainment Weekly, the Iron Man star cryptically discussed who might be making a cameo in the sequel.
“Everywhere you look now in every Marvel movie there are opportunities where certain new pals of his (Tony’s) could be useful. So they’re in the atmosphere, so to speak, but I wouldn’t expect to see them on the ground in this one.”
SuperHeroHype reports that toy manufacturer Funko added fuel to the fires of speculation when they released photos of its upcoming Pop! Vinyl figures. In addition to featuring various characters and costumes, the lines of collectibles also features something called “Iron Man (Deep Space Suit).”
Since Super director James Gunn is currently putting together the Guardians of the Galaxy film for Marvel, it’s not totally implausible that Tony Stark could meet up with characters towards the end of Iron Man 3. The studio is known for peppering its movies with cameos.
