To prepare gamers for the God of War: Ascension commercial that’s slated to arrive during the Super Bowl, Sony has unleashed a brand new live action teaser. In this day and age, even advertisements get their own trailers.
The video embedded below doesn’t really offer up anything specific in regards to the actual game. According to Gamespot, you’ll have to wait until this Sunday (February 3) to see the commercial in all its glory.
Given that companies will have to shell out around $3.8 million for a 30-second spot during the Super Bowl, it’s not altogether surprising that Sony isn’t ready to reveal its hand just yet. At that price, the ad will likely remain under wraps until its ready to hit the airwaves.
Computer and Video Games explains that a previously-released trailer for God of War: Ascension focused on Kratos’ wife. The latest clip for the latest installment in the franchise gives players a glimpse of the protagonist’s daughter.
The upcoming title has been officially described as follows:
“Vengeance is born in the fires of betrayal in this prequel to the best-selling ‘God of War’ franchise. Six months have passed since Kratos stood over the bodies of his wife and child, his hands stained with their blood – tricked by Ares into murdering the only people he ever loved. Swearing to avenge them, Kratos broke the blood oath that bound him to Ares, but oaths to Olympus are not so easily broken.
“Sentenced to an eternity chained within a prison for the living damned, Kratos battles insanity at the hands of the Furies. He will be tested as he seeks freedom, redemption for his sins, and the clarity to avenge his family.”
The latest teaser has been included below.
Sony’s God of War: Ascension is slated to hit retail on March 12. Be sure to catch the expensive commercial for the game when it airs during the Super Bowl this Sunday.
