Aurora, CO – Overland High School teacher Carly McKinney was suspended because of her alleged posting on Twitter. The Colorado teacher is accused of posting semi-nude photos of herself on the online social network. McKinney also supposedly joked about “jailbait” students and drugs on her Twitter account.
Carly McKinney’s Twitter username is @Crunk_Bear, according to NBC 9 News. One of the Overland High School teacher’s tweets reportedly stated, “Naked. Wet. Stoned.” Following Twitter posts reportedly discussed taking marijuana onto the school campus. The post is noted as stating:
“Watching a drug bust go down in the parking lot. It’s funny cuz I have weed in my car in the staff parking lot.”
Additional posts by the Aurora teacher reportedly occurred during school hours. One tweet is credited with revealing the McKinney was posting on Twitter instead of being “productive” in the classroom.
The Colorado educator also reportedly posted a message about a student calling her “Ms. Cutie.” She gave the students “points” for being clever but noted that he was still jailbait.
During an interview with the local news station, Carly McKinney maintained that the Twitter account was just a joke she started with a friend. She also claimed that the “more inappropriate” posts were published without her knowledge, according to The Blaze.
Overland High School officials are still investigating the alleged online actions by the math teacher. Cherry Creek School district administrators cautioned all teachers not to anything online that they wouldn’t be comfortable writing on their classroom blackboards. Colorado school district officials will reportedly be meeting with McKinney to determine whether or not her alleged actions violated school policy.
