One of the best movies of the last 12 months, David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook, has allowed the legendary pop pedophile, Gary Glitter, to earn close to $500,000 in the past year.
His 1972 song, “Rock and Roll Part 2″ is used in the trailer for the movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, which has racked up eight Oscar nominations for the various cast and crew members involved in production.
Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, also managed to make money from numerous other sources over the last 12 months. This includes various basketball, US football, and ice hockey teams, who play his 1970s rock classic out at various games throughout their seasons.
He also received income from the company Hewlett Packard, who played his song “Do You Wanna Touch Me? (Oh Yeah)” in their US advertisement, whilst a greatest hits CD featuring his various hits was released, and the BBC played him on the radio too.
The singer was recently bailed by police officers investigating the former BBC DJ, Jimmy Savile’s years of abuse. Savile is believed to have abused close to 300 people over a 40-year-period in show business, before his death in 2011 at the age of 84.
The former rocker has been jailed twice in the past, once in Vietnam, for child sex offences and for the possession of child pornography on his computer.
Glitter rose to fame throughout the 1970s and by 1975 had sold 18 million records.
Silver Linings Playbook’s Jennifer Lawrence has already been awarded the Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe for best actress for her performance in the movie.
