Ashley Judd And Husband Dario Franchitti Split

It’s official, it looks like Ashley Judd is a free woman. The actress decided to split from husband and race car driver Dario Franchitti after a whopping ten years of marriage. It doesn’t seem like that long, but in Hollywood years that seems to equal a 50 year marriage.

A spokesperson for the couple released a statement to PEOPLE on the separation of Judd, 44, and Franchitti, 39, saying, “We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed.”

The couple were engaged for two years before they wed in a very private ceremony in Scotland in 2001. Ashley Judd’s troubled sister Wynonna Judd, was the bride’s maid of honor, and Dario Franchitti’s brother acted as his best man at the ceremony.

Judd spoke to Redbook about her race car husband. When asked how they make time for each other, she elaborated by explaining her patient relationship with her husband:

“The point is, we’re always so quick to say, ‘That hurt my feelings,’ so how about being as quick to say, ‘I really appreciated it when you turned the TV down so we could hear each other.’ Dario and I do an appreciation every day. And I do them with my friends.”

This split is yet another set back for the actress, who had her television show the Missing, cancelled from ABC’s slate before the show finished out its first season. Hopefully 2013 shapes up for Ashley.
