Whitney Houston’s Brother Says He Got Her Hooked On Crack [Video]

Whitney Houston’s brother says that it’s his fault his sister got addicted to crack.

TMZ reports that though Whitney Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown is sometimes blamed for introducing the late singer to the drug she would struggle with for much of her life, Michael Houston, Whitney’s brother, said that he was the first person who did drugs with her.

Michael sits down with Oprah Winfrey alongside his mother, Cissy, for the latest episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter during which he admits to introducing Whitney to crack in the 80s.

He says that he feels extremely guilty for Whitney’s death, but said that he didn’t realize how deadly drugs could be, or how far-reaching their consequences were, when he first brought them to her. “You gotta understand at the time … the ’80s … it was acceptable.”

Michael Houston adds, “It’s painful … I feel responsible for what I let go so far.”

Whitney Houston died suddenly in Beverly Hills in February 2011. The coroner’s report noted that Whitney died of a drug overdose after binging on cocaine, Xanax, and marijuana.

Michael Houston hasn’t spoken publicly since his sister’s death, even though Whitney was close to both him and her other brother, Gary, while they grew up together in New Jersey. Michael’s revelation that he was the one who introduced Whitney Houston to crack long before she ever met Bobby Brown is a shock to many. You can watch the clip below:
