Rick Ross Shooting: Bullet Holes Are Real, Police Investigate Gangster Disciples

Fort Lauderdale, FL – The Rick Ross shooting has police investigating the Rick Ross death threats made by the Gangster Disciples and whether they’re related to the drive-by shooting by a hit squad. While it’s possible the Gangster Disciples might be the primary suspects, police still caution that the motive for the Rick Ross shooting is unclear.

A witness told ABC News there was a spray of gunfire just before daybreak on the silver Rolls Royce being driven by Rick Ross:

“Nine or 10 shots, rapid fire. AK-47 or pretty large rifle, it was definitely a rifle.”

Police have confirmed that rapper Rick Ross, stage name for William L. Roberts, was the driver of the Rolls Royce when it crashed into an apartment building near the intersection of Southwest 15th Avenue and East Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. Rick Ross had just finished celebrating his 37th birthday with his girlfriend, Shateria L. Moragne-El, who was the second passenger in the vehicle.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, some of the earlier released photographs did not show bullet holes in the crashed Rolls Royce, causing rapper 50 Cent to claim that the Rick Ross shooting was “staged,” but newer photos prove that the Rolls Royce does indeed contain bullet holes.

Rick Ross has been long criticized for not only adopting the name of former real life drug trafficker Rick Ross but also for his past career as a correctional officer. So, while Rick Ross is praised for his musical talent, his detractors point out that he’s acting like something that he’s not.

Kim Osorio, editor in chief of The Source magazine, explained to MTV News why Rick Ross’ history of not “keeping it real” might be causing him problems:

“I think this is a sad day for hip-hop because a lot of times we all partake in the entertainment of it, without realizing that hip-hop was always built on the foundation of realness and keeping it real. There were a lot of people who had a problem with what Rick Ross was doing. Now we’re in a situation where the entertainment has become a reality. People are actually trying to hurt him and I think that’s sad for us.”

Brian “B.Dot” Miller of RapRadar.com says it’s too early to tell if the death threats by the Gangster Disciples and the shooting are connected but strongly suggests Rick Ross beef up on security:

“I think the next step for Ross to take is security. Lots and lots of security. There is no shame in having security depending on your level of celebrity. Certain artists just can’t do things that regular people can do.”

Who do you think sent the hit squad behind the Rick Ross shooting?
