Allison Janney, the woman who seemed to be in just about every film last year is about to get even more work. Janney just signed up to star in a new comedy pilot for CBS. If CBS decided to go to series with the show, we may just be seeing Janney on a full-time basis — no complaints here.
It looks pretty promising, seeing as the front runner of the project will be Chuck Lorre. Lorre is CBS’ golden boy, providing the network with Two And A Half Men and The Big Bang Theory. Both shows have gone on to be big ratings winners for CBS.
The CBS pilot called Mom already has a pretty promising staff in addition to Lorre. The writers behind Two And A Half Men are behind the Janney project too. Mom is said to center on a woman named Christy (Anna Faris), who plays a “newly sober single mom who tries to pull her life together in Napa Valley.”
Allison Janney is said to play Anna Faris’ mom. According to Deadline, Mom had its competition set up for them, as three pilots were circulating Janney. The actress eventually chose Mom, and who would blame her with the successful show runner for CBS. This isn’t the first time Lorre has worked with Janney. The actress made a guest appearance on his Two And A Half Men show.
The actress wanted a TV show all along. During an interview with Vulture:
“I personally would love to find a television show to be on for a while, because I’ve got a nice home here and I’ve got three dogs. I’ve gotten to the point in my life where it’s just nice to have a little consistency and work from home and not travel around so much.”
Are you excited to see Allison Janney make her triumphant return to television?
