Michelle Williams Denies Destiny’s Child Super Bowl Reunion, But Has A Big Grin On Her Face As She Says It

A lot is riding on Beyonce’s upcoming Super Bowl appearance, for inflated and, in some cases, ugly reasons. Now, according to Michelle Williams, Destiny’s Child will be a no-show.

In a recent interview with WRUG Media, Williams denied that the one-time girl group would be performing a medley of hits including “Survivor,” “Independent Woman,” and “Bill, Bills, Bills” at New Orleans’ Mercedez Benz superdome.

Williams said: “I hate to disappoint the people and tell them that it’s not true.”

Adding that she would otherwise engaged on Super Bowl Sunday, the 32-year-old explained:

“I’m going to be in the musical Fela. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. But we did record a song with each other before the holidays.”

For those who are eagerly anticipating the R&B’s trio’s Super Bowl comeback, fear not. It’s pretty much a safe bet that Williams was joking about the no-show.

Known for her off-beat humor when DC3 was a full time operation, it’s more than likely Williams was using the low-key interview to plug her forthcoming appearance in the Tony Award-winning show, which begins in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, Access Hollywood reports.

However, Williams did say that there could be proper Destiny’s Child reunion somewhere down the line. “We have talked about it,” she said. “You know, one day soon.”

Until that day, Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Williams have ended their eight year hiatus to release Love Songs, a compilation album featuring one Pharrell Williams produced new song “Nuclear.”

Destiny’s Child (very probably) and Beyonce will hit the Super Bowl XLVII stage on February 3.
