Losing a pet to cancer is a sad reality that can’t always be avoided; however, one pet owner decided to make their dog’s last day on Earth a celebration, feeding their boxer an amazing last meal.
Reddit user Nikolaoss posted a story this week about Lennox, a boxer that was suffering from cancer and severe arthritis. His roommate realized that it was time for Lennox to be put down, but first they prepared a meal fit for a king — if that king were a hungry dog.
Lennox’s owner created a meal that was complete with bacon, turkey, sausage, cheese bread, rice, and salad.
The dogs owner had already paid to have one tumor removed from Lennox’s ear; however, another larger growth formed, making it difficult for Lennox to even move.
Boxers, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, are one of the dog breeds most likely to develop cancer. While those cancers can be treated with surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy, those processes are not always effective, at which point the disease can become incurable and painful for the dog.
After Lennox ate his amazing last meal, Nikolaoss wrote on Reddit:
“This post isn’t meant to be sad in any way. He lived like an absolute boss all his life! And the meal reflects that!”
Lennox passed away on January 23.
Would you fix your dog an amazing last meal if you knew it would be their last?
