Coachella Fans Don’t Know Who ‘The Stone Roses’ Are

It turns out that quite a few fans of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival don’t know who the event’s headliners, The Stone Roses, are.

The line-up for the Californian music festival was announced earlier today, and sees the Mancunian band play alongside Blur on the opening night. But people who are attending the festival have taken to Twitter to voice their opinion on the bands.

@briddel1 wrote, “Glad to know I’m not the only one who has no clue who The Stone Roses are. #coachella,” to which @finallyaperson added, “Oh, good! It’s not just me …”

Whilst @mrbabycakes gave the organisers of the event some advice by stating, “Hey @Coachella, We wanted The Rolling Stones, not The Stone Roses. Unapologetically, Me PS – Who are The Stone Roses?”

@andybilinsky was more abusive in his declaration though, stating, “Who the f*** are the stone roses?!?!??!?!?!” @KamPashai responded, “I have NO idea. Wiki’d them, still don’t know.”

Other remarks included, @nikki_21’s, “i have no idea who the Stone Roses are,” and @eBrekh’s, “This morning I woke up to find out that theres this “classic, amazing and popular UK band” called The Stone Roses … Who?? #NeedsMoreDaftPunk.”

The comments have been coming in so thick and fast that a tumblr blog has been set up entitled whoarethestoneroses.tumblr.com, which has begun to document peoples’ reactions to The Stone Roses Coachella headlining decision.

These gigs will mark The Stone Roses first American gigs since reforming in 2012, and the likes of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Johnny Marr, Lou Reed, and Modest Mouse will also play at the festival too.
