Titus Young Turns To Twitter To Get The Lions To Cut Him

Titus Young has fallen out of favor in Detroit amidst major maturity issues. Now he’s telling the team that if they’re going to threaten to cut him, just do it.

It’s a mystery why athletes are choosing Twitter to air their frustrations with their teams. Darrelle Revis recently voiced his shock at trade rumors involving his name on Twitter.

Now Young has turned to his own Twitter account to tell the Lions to just cut him already.

Young’s latest outburst comes after a disappointing sophomore season that saw him play in 10 games and gain less than 400 yards. He complained he wasn’t getting the ball enough and became a cancer in Detroit’s locker room.

NFL Network reports that Young tried to get the team to cut him earlier this week if he wasn’t going to get the football more. Head coach Jim Schwartz responded rather intelligently:

“Guys are responsible for what they post, what they say. You wear your uniform 24 hours a day now, everybody’s aware of that. We obviously still got some ground to cover there.”

It’s clear Schwartz is referring to Young’s lack of maturity without directly calling out his own player. Every athlete has an ego, it allows them to play the game confidently. Still, players need to know when to be humble.

Vernon Davis of the 49ers was a locker room cancer until then coach Mike Singeltary sent him to the showers in the middle of a game. Addressing the incident after the game, Singeltary said:

“We want winners!”

Now Davis is a team first player and appearing in his first Super Bowl.

It appears Young’s ego may be untamable. His team went from 10-6 in 2011 to 4-12 last season. Here are his tweets:

He then corrects some of his spelling:

And then has one last thing to say:

Are you surprised by Young’s outburst after two years in the league? Do you think it’s possible he’s justified at all with his feelings?
