Texting Woman Falls Into Icy Canal [Video]

Video of a texting woman as she falls into an icy canal in England may be viewed as funny, but who among us can say they’ve never walked and texted before?

The texting woman who falls into a canal on surveillance video is actually a media personality herself.

Capital FM Radio personality Laura Safe of Birmingham suffered the unfortunate insult as she SMSed her man, and the victim of the embarrassing accident was luckily spared serious injury — even managing to quip about the viral misfortune:

“Oh dear. I should really be called Laura UNsafe after the day I’ve had! … I thought ice on the canal was pavement because it looked dark in the corner of my eye.”

While Safe can joke about it now, the texting woman describes the canal fall as certainly unpleasant — the Capital FM employee says a bystander saved her from hypothermia after her trip into the freezing waters:

“I tried to get my balance and ended up slipping into the canal. But not before I’d saved my handbag and mobile phone … This man came running up Baywatch style, grabbed my hand and pulled me up. He was a hero and saved my life.”

The fellow who witnessed the texting woman as she was about to plunge into the water says that he saw it coming, but was unable to prevent the fall”

“I realised her focus was on her mobile phone and that she was going to walk straight into the water … I shouted to her to stop but it was too late. I dropped my phone and ran over to her … I had to lay down on the side with my arms in the water because she was submerged and pulled her out.”
