Obama vs. Fly. Round two goes to the insect.

Three years after President Obama snatched a fly from mid-air during an interview with CNBC, the insects have apparently plotted their revenge. This time, Obama vs. fly took place during a conference to announced his pick to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Yahoo! News reported.

During the meeting, a fly landed on his face, forcing Obama off his script.

According to the official White House transcript, the Obama vs. fly encounter brought out this expression of frustration from the president: “This guy is bothering me here—(swatting at a fly).”

The moment ended quickly, but not before Reuters photographer Larry Downing captured a shot of the fly right in the middle of Obama’s forehead, The Atlantic noted.

This year’s round of Obama vs. fly likely will be easier on the president. When he killed the fly, Obama received a rebuke from PETA, which asked him to refrain from killing flies in the future.

“We support compassion for the even the smallest animals,” said Bruce Friedrich, vice president for policy at PETA. “We support giving insects the benefit of the doubt.”

Friedrich noted that PETA supports “brushing flies away rather than killing them” and hoped Obama would show more restraint the next time. Apparently, Obama heeded the advice.

Round two of Obama vs. fly ended with the insect flying off somewhere, victorious.
