Ralph Nader: Video Game Makers Are Electronic Child Molesters

Ralph Nader, the former third party presidential candidate and consumer activist, apparently believes that video game creators are equivalent to child molesters.

According to Politico, Nader maintains that President Obama’s gun control proposals fell way short of the mark by not going after video game producers:

“We are in the peak of [violence in entertainment]. Television program violence? Unbelievable. Video game violence? Unprecedented …

“I’m not saying he wants to censor this, I think he should sensitize people that they should protect their children family by family from these kinds of electronic child molesters.”

Unlike most on the left of the political spectrum, Nader, who ran for president twice on the Green Party ticket, is not an Obama cheerleader by any means. In the run-up to this week’s inauguration, he asserted the following:

“Tomorrow I’ll watch another rendition of political bulls—- by the newly reelected president, full of promises that he intends to break just like he did in 2009 …

“[Obama] promised he’d be tough on Wall Street, and not one of these crooks have gone to jail — they got some inside trading people, but that’s peripheral.”

Back in October, Nader deemed Obama a war criminal for overseas drone attacks. He also claimed that Obama was politically selfish for not helping Democrats take over the US House of Representatives.

Do you think the White House should go after the video game industry and violent Hollywood films with the same fervency as it is pursuing various gun control initiatives? If you watched it (and many people didn’t judging by the TV ratings), do you agree with Ralph Nader that the president’s inauguration speech was BS?
