Jim Carrey And Adam Sandler Eyed For ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

So since Joseph Gordon-Levitt is no longer a viable candidate for Guardians of The Galaxy, it seems as though two comedians have been added on the list. Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler have been said to be right on the list for the film, which starts its production pretty soon.

According to Latino Review, who has pretty good connections to the Marvel universe, is reporting that Sandler and Carrey, two high profiled comedians, are being tapped into the universe for the film. Apparently, this will be a film that needs some serious comic relief. Somehow the roles haven’t been revealed yet.

So far the film hasn’t been a typical comic book film that Marvel knows and loves. Firstly, they hired director James Gunn, who’s known more for Super than anything else, which is worlds away from the genre. Although Super was an action film, as far as its tone it doesn’t quite match the titles Marvel usually puts out. It could very well explain the casting choices of Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey.

As for the lead role of Peter Quill, we already reported that there’s a few names circulating the film. So far Wes Bentley, Chris Lowell, and Cam Gigandet are rounding out the actors in the lead to play the lead character. Originally Joseph Gordon-Levitt was considered for the role, but turned it down in favor of Sin City 2, which is finally starting production after being stalled for years.

What do you think of the choices of Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler? Do you think we’re ready for a comedic Marvel film?
