Lena Dunham Slams Rihanna, Chris Brown Reunion: Says She Doesn’t Want To Throw Stones, Then Does

Actress and comedienne Lena Dunham has slammed Rihanna’s reunion with on/off boyfriend singer Chris Brown.

Girls creator and star Dunham, who recently won two Golden Globes, made the comments in a recent podcast interview with Alec Baldwin for his Here’s the Thing series.

Dunham revealed she used to be a huge fan of Rihanna but now considers the “Diamonds” singer to be a bad role model, RTE reports.

Speaking about Rihanna’s influence on fans, Dunham said:

“It’s an amazing thing and it’s like, it’s a platform that you have to take seriously. Which is why sometimes, it’s like, I used to be really into Rihanna, that pop star, and then it’s like again, I don’t want to ever throw stones from my glass house, but I follow her on Instagram and I just think about how many little girls beyond what I could even comprehend are obsessed with Rihanna.”

Then, referring directly to Rihanna and Brown’s resumed relationship and their habit of sharing provocative pictures on social media sites such as Twitter and Instagram, Dunham railed:

“Like you know, she left Barbados, she’s had this amazing career, she’s won a Grammy… She’s talented. And then she gets back together with Chris Brown and posts a million pictures of them smoking marijuana together on a bed. And it cracks my heart in half in a way that makes me feel like I’m 95 years old.”

Rihanna and Brown split up in 2009 after Brown assaulted the Bajan singer in a brutal attack that led to him receiving a sentence of five years probation and six months community labor from a Los Angeles judge.

Rihanna has since called Brown the “love of my life” in an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey and has been photographed with Brown at numerous public events.

According to Vulture, during the podcast, Baldwin asked his guest for a role on her hit HBO show Girls. But before she decides, perhaps Dunham should ask Baldwin about his own role model credentials?
