‘Temple Run 2’ Climbs To The Top Of The App Store

Imangi Studios’ Temple Run 2 has already climbed to the top of Apple’s App Store days after it debuted for iOS.

The original version of the game has enjoyed over 170 million downloads since its release. According to The Wall Street Journal, the company stated that it had made “millions” off the action-adventure title.

Judging from the rapid popularity of its sequel, chances are the Temple Run sequel will perform exceedingly well for Imangi Studios. In addition to providing even more addictive gameplay, the latest version of the game offers up a number of tweaks designed to entice fans to give it a shot.

For those who haven’t played the original title, the game focuses on an explorer as he or she runs through a number of exotic temple-based locales. Running, jumping, sliding, and dodging are the name of the game. If you stumble too frequently, then you’ll become food for the angry monkeys that are hot on your tail.

While the game may sound relatively simple, it’s actually very addicting. Players can increase their high scores through the use of power-ups sprinkled throughout the course.

According to Kotaku, Temple Run 2 didn’t receive a huge push prior to its release. Imangi Studios co-founder Keith Shepherd said the company was more focused on delivering a quality game instead of worrying about marketing and promotion.

He explained:

“It’s one of the joys of being a small indie studio. We love making games, and plan staying small making games. That’s something you can do on this platform.”

ABC News explains that players who decide to return to the jungle once again will be treated to additional courses, a bevy of power-ups, and updated graphics. The icing on the cake: the title is free to download right now from the App Store.
