Robert Wagner: Suspect In Natalie Wood Death Investigation?

Robert Wagner: Suspect In Natalie Wood Death Investigation?

Is Robert Wagner a suspect in the Natalie Wood death investigation? Lt. John Corina of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office says Robert Wagner is the only person who was on the yacht the night Wood drowned in 1981 who has not spoken to authorities as part of the latest Natalie Wood investigation. The media speculate that this makes Robert Wagner a suspect.

The story so far is that Natalie Wood drowned while she was yachting with Wagner and Christopher Walken. Robert Wagner told police investigators at the time that Natalie Wood fell off the dock while trying to re-tie a dinghy, and her death was ruled an accidental drowning.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, findings from a new Los Angeles County Coroner’s report into the death of Natalie Wood have concluded that bruising found on the actress could have occurred before she fell into the ocean, suggesting she may have been assaulted. The captain of the yacht, Dennis Davern, painted Robert Wagner as suspect when he told a television program he had overheard Wood and Wagner arguing before she died and he believed Robert Wagner was to blame.

According to TV Guide, Blair Berk, an attorney for Robert Wagner, says that the actor has cooperated with officials, had no new information to add, and refuses all interviews:

“Mr. Wagner has fully cooperated over the last 30 years in the investigation of the accidental drowning of his wife in 1981. Mr. Wagner has been interviewed on multiple occasions by the Los Angeles sheriff’s department and answered every single question asked of him by detectives during those interviews.”

Police have not officially identified Robert Wagner as a suspect. In fact, according to UPI, when Lt. John Corina was asked Friday if Robert Wagner would be investigated in the newly reopened case of his wife’s death the answer was a blunt “no.” So, at this point, Rober Wagner is only a suspect when it comes to media speculation.

Do you think that police should make Robert Wagner a suspect in the reopened Natalie Wood death investigation?

As a former city officer and a County constable. Mr Wagner is the only suspect. If Mr Walken was there at the time Of Woods death he is part of the cover up.

A sea captain (also called a captain or a master or a shipmaster) is a licensed mariner in ultimate command of the vessel.[1] The captain is responsible for its safe and efficient operation, including cargo operations, navigation, crew management and ensuring that the vessel complies with local and international laws, as well as company and flag state policies. All persons on board, including officers and crew, other shipboard staff members, passengers, guests and pilots, are under the captain's authority and are his ultimate responsibility.

Robert Wagner and OJ Simpson both appeared in The Towering Inferno. Hmmm, could that have been a sign?

  4. Gen Pick

Yes! From day one I always said he was the one whom in fact had all to do with her death for sure. His children should know the facts even though so many years have past. Do believe he is guility.

He know he is guilty. The law just wants to get his money and will bring charges. The lawyers and the court are out for money. They knew when she went overboard, that she didn't just jump in the ocean for a swim.

In the past he was an abuser. He was having an affair with Stepnanie Powers. She was afraid of the water. From my own experience, I wouldn't be tieing no dingy drunk or not. Like the old saying goes, "WHERE'S THEIR SMOKE…THERE'S FIRE".

What was the last thing Robert Wagner said to Natalie?
Do you want to shower on the boat or wash ashore?

I have always beleived from the day it happen that Wagner threw her over board because he was jealous and she had been flirting with another man. Look at all the years he has had to live with the fact that he killed his childrens mother! Shame on him, I hope they make him pay for it!

  9. Pauletta Mamacita

I hope he comes out with the truth like that biker did about taking drugs to make him bike faster.

I suspected Wagner from the beginning. But he is the only one that knows what happened that night, and has to answer to GOD.

I suspected Wagner from the beginning. Only he knows what happened that night.

Throwing around accusations with out proof…you are not the brightest bulb in the bunch!

I believe Robert Wagner is innocent, we know OJ was found not guilty of double homicide but that doesn't mean that he is innocent, he is guilty of spousal abuse..just look at the photos of his ex-wife & listen to the 911 call Nicole Brown Simpson made!

Have you read the ship captain's tesimony?!? It depends on your definition of "Innocent." Of first degree murder, of course he's innocent. But I think there's real evidence of at least a manslaughter situation. They had a fight, and she fell in, and he told the pilot to leave it be and they would go look for her in the morning. This is, at best, gross negligence!

If my lady does not know how to swim, I would never, never let her go out and tie up a dinghy. What kind of a caring, loving husband was he to Natalie?

  16. Rhonda Williams

Well, you're obviously a gentleman and not a murderer. That, sir, is a good thing.

reading these comments gives you a clear idea how an innocent person can be convicted of a crime……you guys for the most part are judge and jury and not any I would like to have in any trial anywhere……mob justice without thought is what it amounts to and it is pathetic……you are judging about something you know very little about…and the ship's captain wanted to sell his book,,,,,,, so I wouldn't take his statements as any sort of truth…….

I HAVE ALWAYS BELIEVED HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR HER DEATH. SHE WAS TERRIFIED OF WATER; SHE WAS INVOLVED WITH CHRISTOPHER WALKEN; SHE WAS MORE FAMOUS AND TALENTED THAN HE COULD EVER HOPE TO BE; IT WAS ALSO AN ERA WHERE MEN RULED, AND NO ONE QUESTIONED. THERE WERE NO ANSWERS TO MANY QUESTIONS, INCLUDING THE FACT THAT THEY WERE FIGHTING BEFORE SHE "FELL", THE CAPTAIN SPOKE NEGATIVELY OF THE WHOLE SITUATION, AND WALKEN KEPT HIS MOUTH SHUT—AS I SAID, MEN HAD EACH OTHERS BACK, AND CELEBRITIES GOT BY WITH—–. AT THE VERY LEAST HE SHOULD BE REINVESTIGATED. WE NOW HAVE A MORE EXACTING SOCIETY, AND TECHNOLOGY THAT WAS NOT AVAILABLE THEN. IT COULD BE PROVED OR DISPROVED IN OUR TIME. PLEASE SEEK JUSTICE. BEAUTIFUL, TALENTED, CELEB—SHE IS STILL ENTITLED TO JUSTICE.

Why don't they leave Wagner alone? This has been brought up again and again, always with the same result – that Wood's drowning was an accident. This just shows how the media loves to stir up trouble, no matter who it hurts.

  20. Diana Portrner

I always did think that Wagner had some part in Natalies death. I think he killed her, Maybe not meaning to but it happpened. How come he married her best friend? Natalie was so pretty I hate to think he did it and got away with it for so long…..

  21. Barbara Payne

NO cover up! It was a horrible accident. Let this poor woman rest in peace and let the family have peace as well. And Shame on the the Sea Captain who is started this whole thing again. Mr. Wagner loved Ms. Wood beyond words.

  22. Sharon Kay McGaha

I agree one of them who was on the boat threw her over how did she get bruises not from a dingy. She was definitley murdered but I am not assuming to know which one of them committed the crime, whether it was a crime of passion or anger who knows.

  23. Sharon Kay McGaha

I agree and now he comes out with a book to gain notariety from this tragic event makes him a suspect also

  24. Suzanne Rosenorn

How he has gotten away this long without being charged should be investigated. They drank too much, both were flirts and Wagner had a bad temper.

  25. Dayna Ferro

RJ DID NOT KILL NATILIE!!!!!! The captain of the boat did it!!!!! He probably made advances towards her and she refused so he killed her.

I was suspicious right from the beginning that Wagner was involved in Natalie's death. However, because he has a lot of money, he'll never be convicted even if they find hard evidence against him. Ever see a rich man get the death penalty? Of course not – in this country, there is justice for those WHO CAN AFFORD IT.

  27. Anonymous

I was suspicious of Wagner right from the beginning. But even if they find hard evidence against him, will he ever get convicted? No! In this country, there is justice only for those who can afford it. His wealth will protect him. Unfair, but true.

People tend to play detective and speculate. How can you guys say RW was the killer when no one here that wrote a comment was on the scene of that tragedy. Where you people the one that investigate this? Lets leave it to the police the chance to solve this case. May she rest in peace..Natalie was the only..the ONLY.

  30. Zen Otico Sanders

You people are fast on speculating that RW killed her. Where you guys at the scene of that tragedy, that it gives you guys the right to point a finger? Why don't we leave this to the proper authority and just pray that her soul is at peace. THe only person that can legitimately name it's killer is NW..

  31. Gerri Markwald

We, who followed Natalie Woods throughout her career from beginning to end, know how deathly afraid of water she was and how Robert Wager, at the time, insisted she must have gone out to tend to the dingy… No one could convince me, in a million years, she would do such a dangerous act with 3 able bodied men aboard ship. I believed Robert caused her death in a jealous rage at that time and I still believe it to this day and I do hope he has to pay for his crime. I don't think he intended for it to go that far but wanted to give her a real scare and possibly lost his grip. Even an accident should be faced like a man and accept the outcome.

  32. Gregory Greene

Well it's about time, he and Walkin were fingered for this they were the only 2 people around and no one could save her? Something is wring somewhere, who paid who off.

  33. Vicki Parker-Mabe

Innocent until proven guilty. That them tell us what the DNA evidence shows. Oh, I forgot nobody had mentioned any evidence of DNA. It's going to be tough to take this to trial without much evidence. I won't judge until I hear all sides on this matter.

  34. Joanne King

Wagner is definity responsible for Natalie's dealth. Money and fame set him free, just like Simpson!!! Justice should of been served decades ago, what about Natalie's Family? They deserve an ending and peace be with them. As for Wagner-God will judge him one day, HE WON'T MAKE IT PAST THOSE GATES.

  35. Diana Skinner

RW and Nat argued..he hit her..she fell and hit her head..it knocked her out..RW tossed her overboard. Done.

I think he's as guilty as sin. he showed no remorse and remarried soon after. his talent, or so called talent, helped him act his way out with the investigators on the case. if it were me, I'd be in jail from the outset. why people like reverse mortgage hire him as a tv spokes person for their adds, is beyond belief. he's a murderer and Christopher walken was probably implicated. I hope you read this one mr. wagner, you phony, conceited s.o.b.
