Emma Stone In Talks To Star In Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Crimson Peak’

Gangster Squad star Emma Stone is currently in talks to star in director Guillermo Del Toro’s haunted house flick Crimson Peak.

Although he already has a number of projects waiting in the wings, the acclaimed filmmaker is already putting together a new project set inside a creepy old house. According to Cinema Blend, the movie is reportedly in the same vein as The Haunting and The Shining. With del Toro behind the camera, it should be an interesting endeavor.

This project seems to be taking shape rather quickly, as the director already has his sights set on a female lead for the flick. Variety reports that Emma Stone is currently in talks to sign on for the project. However, nothing has been confirmed as of this writing.

Although Guillermo Del Toro and Matthew Robins penned the script for the upcoming horror movie, it’s currently being rewritten and retooled at a bit by Lucinda Coxon. Since the director is still hard at work on getting Pacific Rim ready for its big screen debut, production on Crimson Peak probably won’t begin until sometime next year.

Should Pacific Rim turn out to be a huge success, then chances are the haunted house movie del Toro has in mind could take a back seat to the monster movie’s proposed sequel. The director has stated that a follow-up is already in the works.

Emma Stone will have plenty to keep her busy while she’s waiting for Crimson Peak to begin production. In addition to reprising her role as Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the acclaimed actress is also attached to an untitled Cameron Crowe project with Bradley Cooper.

Director Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim hits theaters on July 12. Emma Stone’s crime drama Gangster Squad is in theaters right now. Are you looking forward to their upcoming collaboration?
